2010

Saw McCartney at the Hollywood Bowl.

I know not all Beatle Fans like Rockabilly and vice versa but in CA there are a plenty of fans of both.

The Beatles and particularly George Harrison loved Carl Perkins. If you look at their early catalog there was plenty of Perkins, Presley and Chuck Berry.

In fact Ringo recorded Honey Don't on one of their early albums.

The Stray Cats have mentioned the Beatles as one of the bands that influenced them and made them research the above mentioned artists.

Something Cool

Just happened to stumble across this the other day.

Fender Bassman like original amps.

Having purchased a vintage guitar a long time ago, Bassman amps were just starting to dry up or get more expensive when I thought about buying one.

Anyway like most good things (at least in the Rockabilly World) they can only be found in California.

But because of the Internet they can be ordered and shipped to a galaxy near you.

NAMM Show 2009

NAMM is right around the corner which means all types of good things.

A peak at both the Brian Setzer and Billy Zoom Gretsch guitars as well as a multitude of guitar items for purchase (or at least dream about).

If you are planning on going to NAMM leave a note.

Maybe we will see you there.

2007 and 2008

What's new in Rockabilly?

How about Brian Setzer playing at Pechanga Casino on New Years Eve?

Sounds like a good way to combine your love for Poker and Rockabilly.

In other news.... just saw the latest Gretsch Catalog at the NAMM show.

Yes Brian Setzer is featured prominently on Page 5.

But no Billy Zoom?

I don't even know how half of these people made it into the catalog.

The Rockingest Cats in the Galaxy

We finally did it. After months and months of talking about it we finally came up with a new format.

As part of that format we have added this blog where readers can post comments and we can add new information much quicker than designing a web page.

And while many bands have updated pages we still are committed to adding new material when ever possible.

So keeping checking in and thank you for your visit.

StrayCats.Com

Finally someone stepped up and corrected things.

Maybe it was just me, but it blew me away that the greatest performing band in the world - The Stray Cats - did not have their own website.

Straycats.com, Straycats.net, and StrayCtas.org were all bizarre and non Stray Cat related webpages.

Sure you could argue, that websites aren't really 50's culture, but Brian Setzer has an awesome website, so why not the Stray Cats?

It was interesting to see how slowly most bands jumped on the web band wagon.

As a whole there were far more post 2000 than pre 2000 websites.
